Fireteller creates sell-out water screen film

26th January 2021

Fireteller were commissioned to create a 13-minute film that tells the Nyoongar creation story, of injustice faced by Aboriginal people and the path to reconciliation.

Fireteller interviewed eight Nyoongar elders for the film and worked with Aboriginal dancers, musicians and performers.

The film was projected onto a 15 x 32 metre water screen January 22-26, 2021 as part of the Australia Day Festival held by Auspire (The Australia Day Council of WA) and The City of Perth.

Due to COVID restrictions, a ticket system was established to see the film. The event sold out, attracting 20,000 people over the five days.

This was the first time that a water screen has been displayed in Western Australia. The screen was installed and operated by Lux Events.
